I came to China with 1) the goal to become an English teacher and 2) the desire to remove some stress from my life. Becoming an English teacher has been a great move for me personally because I enjoy it a lot, and professionally because an education background can open up future career opportunities. Before moving to China I had worked without guidance or leadership. Since commencing my role as a teacher at YingZhiFu School I have found an appropriate niche for me. The workplace at YingZhiFu is stimulating, friendly, developmental, supportive, and shows strong leadership and professional guidance.
Working and living in China has allowed me the opportunity to travel through the region, learn about Chinese culture, language and cooking, broaden my understanding of aid/development work, meet new people, and take more time out for activities that I enjoy, including reading, yoga, photography and massages!! If such activities could not be a part of my life, it would lose its value. I believe strongly that you need to find the right mix of recreation and work to enjoy your life fully and being in China is helping me find that balance.
