Niklas Larsson

My name is Niklas, I am 25 and I grew up close to the ocean in Sweden (瑞典). I lived in a warm and caring family environment. The time of my childhood moulded me into a very caring person. My parents would support me and my brothers whenever we found something that caught our interests. In my case, the love for science, arts, literature and languages.

I took the Cambridge Advanced English test at the age of 17. This test is more advanced than the well known IELTS. I studied East Asian languages at the University of Gothenburg and also taught Wing Chun, Taiji and self defence to young and adults for free. After wrapping up my studies I hiked my way through Japan and China. Both countries left me with an impression. I spoke Japanese already but the memories of China led me back again to this country of history and traditions. During that trip my love for educating young and adults in languages grew.

As I flew in over Kunming I did not yet know how much this city would mean to me. I took Chinese classes at Shifan Daxue and on the side I taught children English. My ideas on education are that a teacher should not just teach a child about one subject such as English. Teaching a language is to teach a pupil about life. My parole is that without life there are no languages. I don’t just teach the students the words; I teach the students the actions.

I met my girl one year ago. I really love this woman and the promise we made will keep us together for a lifetime. I made the decision then to stay in Kunming for as long as it takes to learn her way of thinking, her culture, her language and her traditions.

As an English teacher I am caring, strict when needed, has a passion for my work and I will not just teach a child to recite English, I will teach a child how to actively use English!
